October is International Walk to School Month and Walk at School Month
In 2011, 108 schools and groups across Nova Scotia participated in International Walk to School Month (IWALK) in October, including an estimated 20,000 students! Active & Safe Routes to School congratulates the event organizers and students at each school for their awesome events. We look forward to the event in 2012. Registration for IWALK 2012 will begin in late May. So stay tuned and keep on walking & wheeling to school!

Prize Draws: All registered schools that completed our evaluation form qualified for prize draws. Here are the winners and their prizes:
- A bike donated by Cyclesmith to give away to a lucky bike-minded student - winner: Salt Springs Elementary
- A classroom pedometer kit - winner: Barton Consolidated School
- Reflective arm/leg bands for all students (up to 500) - winner: Great Village Elementary School
- Climate Change Teacher’s Guide by Green Teacher and an Ecology Action Centre membership - winner: Shipyard Elementary
